YOUTH OF HONOR FOUNDATION LAUNCHES IT’S ‘BE A GIANT’ CAMPAIGN
(Mabry Middle School, Marietta, Georgia on October 26, 2009)

Atlanta, Georgia – (YOH – October 26, 2009) - Youth of Honor Foundation, an Atlanta-based 501(c) 3 non-profit organization with a mission to assist troubled and ‘at-risk’ youth around the world achieve greatness in life through education and life skills enrichment training, kicked off it’s BE A GIANT campaign today to an assembly of approximately 800 middle school students at Mabry Middle School (http://www.cobbk12.org/mabry/) in Marietta, Georgia in support of Red Ribbon Week.

YOH President & Founder, Mr. H. Ron Brashear, passionately addressed the youth in Mabry Middle School's auditorium letting them know that they can have a sense of empowerment and courage to fight peer pressure and say NO to negative behavior related to tobacco, drugs, alcohol and violence.  “I want the youth of today to know that each and every one of them is a GIANT and they can step above the negative influences they face in life and not only say NO to them, but they can also positively influence their friends and help them resist the negative behaviors as well," stated Mr. Brashear.  That’s our primary mission behind our BE A GIANT campaign.” he said.

Mr. Brashear considered it an honor to have been invited to speak to what he termed “a distinguished school with so many high achievements and accolades."  Check out Mabry Middle School’s ranking at  the following link to get an idea about why we chose Mabry (http://www.greatschools.net/modperl/browse_school/ga/489).

"In fact, we initially delayed our BE A GIANT launch in order to introduce the campaign to these students first before rolling this campaign out nationally and ultimately, globally.” he said.  This event was very well received by everyone in attendance.  “I think it was great for the children to hear your story and to hear about the organization Youth of Honor. I think it’s real important for them to know that their choices have long-term effects. They need to know the consequences of their choices; more importantly, that they have the power to make the good choices and to really do well and succeed.” stated Mabry PTSA member/Red Ribbon week co-chair Laine Liss.  Theresa Druckenmiller, another Mabry PTSA member/Red Ribbon week co-chair stated, “I thought it was great. The kids seemed very favorable to everything that you were talking about. They really were engaged with the whole concept and I really think they will remember a lot of the analogies you used and the personal experiences that you shared.”
